Belmont Abbey College has been recognized for its undergraduate teaching, earning the No. 2 spot among Regional Colleges in the South in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report rankings. This marks the second consecutive year that the college has achieved this ranking.
In addition to its placement for undergraduate teaching, Belmont Abbey College moved up ten places to No. 12 in the overall Regional Colleges–South category, placing it within the top 10 percent of colleges in this group. The institution also ranked No. 15 among Best Value Schools for Regional Colleges–South and received a Peer Assessment Rank of No. 4.
The U.S. News & World Report’s Best Undergraduate Teaching ranking is determined by a peer assessment survey, where college presidents, provosts, and admissions deans nominate schools they believe excel in undergraduate teaching.
Interim President Dr. Joseph Wysocki commented on the recognition: “Our faculty do more than teach—they guide and support our students, helping to form them into individuals who will be a blessing to themselves and to the world around them,” he said. “Much of our recent growth aligns with the expansion of our academic offerings—now more than 30 majors and 50 minors—designed to meet the evolving needs of our community and the region.”
The college is experiencing record enrollment numbers, with its largest total enrollment ever and its second-largest incoming class.
Belmont Abbey College is noted as an authentically Catholic institution by The Cardinal Newman Society, which highlights its commitment to providing a faithful Catholic education rooted in Benedictine tradition.
The college continues to expand scholarship opportunities through programs such as the Honors College, Hintemeyer Catholic Leadership Scholarship, St. Thomas More Civic Integrity Scholarship, and Fr. Oetgen Theatre and Dance Scholarship.
