Lincoln County Animal Services has confirmed its sixth rabies case this year after a skunk tested positive following an encounter with two vaccinated dogs. No humans were exposed; both dogs remain under observation. Officials urge residents to keep pets vaccinated and report any sick wildlife.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is inviting public input on a proposed waiver that would boost funding for key home energy assistance programs serving low-income families statewide. A virtual hearing will be held June 1 with written comments accepted through June 2.
The Town of Stanley Council will hold a public hearing on its proposed budget for fiscal year July 2026 through June 2027. Residents can review the budget in advance and attend the meeting scheduled for June 1.
