City of Gastonia issued the following announcement on June 17.

5,600 people were injured last year by fireworks.
Two thirds of them had to be hospitalized.
Fireworks are #dangerous & most are #illegal in NC. Banned fireworks are those that explode or shoot into the air.
Leave fireworks to the pros! Licensed, permitted pyrotechnics professionals will create Gastonia’s fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. on July 4.
