Today, Congressman Tim Moore led a group of North Carolina Congressional Delegation members in urging the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to support the Williams Transco Southeast Supply Enhancement Project. The letter was addressed to Secretary Debbie-Anne A. Reese.
The lawmakers stated, “North Carolina continues to be an economic leader, consistently ranking among the top ten states for manufacturing and the top five for starting a business.” They emphasized that this project would help sustain North Carolina’s economic momentum and maintain its quality of life.
The project’s potential benefits include delivering clean, affordable, and reliable energy to meet growing demands across various sectors in North Carolina. It also highlights natural gas’s role in enhancing energy resilience and supporting long-term economic growth.
“In addition to modernizing the existing natural gas system,” they wrote, “the project is expected to generate over 3,000 direct and indirect jobs for North Carolinians.” The letter pointed out that affordable and dependable energy is crucial for industries like manufacturing when deciding on locations for operations.
The letter concluded with the assertion that “this project is critical for securing a prosperous, energy-secure future for North Carolina.”
Signatories included Senators Thom Tillis and Ted Budd, along with Representatives Addison McDowell, Richard Hudson, Virginia Foxx, Mark Harris, Pat Harrigan, Brad Knott, Chuck Edwards, Gregory F. Murphy M.D., and David Rouzer.
