FOIA Request to Lincoln County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Gastonia Times have submitted a request for public records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1. The request specifically seeks access to the pre-election test reports of voting machines used in the recent elections.

The requested information includes details such as the date of testing, machine manufacture, machine model number, and the status of each machine – whether it passed or failed during testing. We have asked for these records in a PDF format for easy accessibility and review.

As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to these records is crucial. It allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities effectively by providing essential information to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

We look forward to receiving this important data from the Lincoln County Election Department soon. This will further enable us to keep our readers informed about their local government’s operations and practices.
