Gaston County Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 30. 

Gaston County Police began receiving Complaints this morning from community citizens in regards to  Individuals calling To Solicit Credit Card Information in reference to raising funds for “Gaston County Fire” to purchase educational materials and books.  We have contacted local fire associations and have been informed there are currently no fundraisers being conducted at this time.
