Lincoln County Fire Marshal's Office issues Burn Ban
The Lincoln County Marshal's Office in conjunction with the North Carolina Forest Service issue a burning ban for Lincoln County effective 5 p.m. on April 6, 2020
Lincolnton, NC – Effective 5:00 pm on Monday, April 6, 2020, the State of North Carolina Forest Service and the Lincoln County Fire Marshal’s Office will enact a burning ban countywide. This ban prohibits all open burning regardless of whether a permit was previously issues or not. The issuance of any new permits has also been suspended until this ban has been lifted. Here are a few facts regarding this ban for citizens to keep in mind:
This burning ban does not apply to cooking fires such as grills,outdoor cookers, and heating fires. These type fires may only beconducted in approved and tested devices.• Open burning including burning leaves, branches and other plantmaterial. In all cases, it is illegal to burn trash, lumber, tires,newspapers, plastics or other non-vegetative materials.• Violation of this burning ban carries at $100.00 fine plus courtcosts of $180.00Fines will be issued with no exceptions
Due to increased fire risk, the Lincoln County Fire Marshal and the North Carolina Forest Service have issued a ban on all open burning and have canceled all burning permits for Lincoln County. The State burning ban officially went into effect 5 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2020, and the County burning ban will go into effect at 5 p.m. on April 6, 2020 and will remain in effect until further notice.

If you see an outside fire or someone violating the burning ban, you may contact 9-1-1 for authorities to be sent out for an investigation.
