The Connecticut-based global chemical production company, Dymax Corporation, is spending $21.5 million on a new manufacturing facility in Gastonia, which will create an estimated 59 jobs.

“Dymax is experiencing steady and significant growth, and our expansion from our Northeast roots into North Carolina opens doors to outstanding labor, technical and logistic resources,”  Aaron Mambrino, president of Dymax North America, said, according to Business Facilities April 8 report. “The combination of available resources and solid support from state and local officials made North Carolina a great choice.”

The One North Carolina Fund will provide financial assistance to the company, Business Facilities reported. This is a $200,000 performance-based grant that requires local governments to match before funding distribution and the company must meet certain targets in job creation and investments to qualify for the payments as well.

The new job opportunities will pay an average of $59,814 annually, Business Facilities reported. The current average for Gastonia is $41,739.

“Even amid unprecedented short-term challenges facing the global economy, advanced manufacturers remain eager to invest in North Carolina because they know our business climate is conducive to their long-term success,” North Carolina Commerce Secretary Anthony Copeland said, according to Business Facilities. “North Carolina has the fifth largest manufacturing economy in the nation, a strong manufacturing workforce and a robust transportation network to support Dymax’s continued business growth.”

Founded in 1980, Dymax Corporation provides lead solutions for integrated rapid and light-cure formulations, according to its website. The company also develops equipment for medical markets, automotive electronics, defense markets, and aerospace.

“As Chairman of the Gaston County EDC, I want to extend our sincere appreciation to the Dymax Corporation for announcing their newest expansion of the company’s advanced manufacturing operation is to be built in the Gastonia Technology Park,”  Chairman of the Gaston County Economic Development Commission Robert Browne said, according to Business Facilities. “We welcome them to our community and are grateful for their investment which is to create quality jobs in Gaston County. I would like to extend my deepest thanks to the Gaston County Board of Commissioners, the Gastonia Council and the staff of the Economic Development Commission for their diligent work to make this project possible.”
