Gaston County recently issued the following announcement.
In response to Gov. Roy Cooper’s announcement of the extension of a statewide Stay at Home order through May 8th, Gaston County leaders have called for a press conference for Wednesday, April 29th.
It is set for 10 a.m. at the Board of Commissioners meeting room inside the Gaston County Courthouse, 325 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
The press conference will provide an update on local data for COVID-19 cases along with insight as to what Gaston County elected officials believe is the best path forward when it comes to reopening our economy.
A livestream of the event will be made available on the county’s website and Facebook page. So as to follow social distancing guidelines and avoid gatherings of 10 or more, the event will not be open to the public.
Credentialed media are welcome to attend. To aid with social distancing, media members who wish to watch the livestream can participate in the Q&A portion by requesting access to a conference line ahead of time through the public information office. That will allow those off-site to still ask questions of Board Chairman Tracy Philbeck, Department of Health and Human Services Director Chris Dobbins or other leaders present at the press conference.
