GASTON COUNTY: Gaston County to Use Temperature Screenings, Overflow Rooms for Board of Commissioners Meeting

Genbusiness011billboard

Gaston County recently issued the following announcement.

As with its previous County Board of Commissioners meeting this month, Gaston County will perform temperature screenings and enact capacity restrictions on the rooms available for the public this evening.

Screenings will involve answering two questions related to COVID-19 and having a temperature scan. Those with temperatures above 100.4 degrees will not be admitted. This is the same screening process currently in place for employees at county facilities.

The meeting is set for 6 p.m. at the Harley B. Gaston Public Forum at the Gaston County Courthouse, 325 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way, in Gastonia.

There will be several overflow rooms made available, for members of the public wishing to address the board. Those that desire to do so can begin arriving at the County Courthouse at 4:30 p.m. to sign up to speak.

Depending upon the number of those who sign up, the chairman of the Board may, at his discretion, shorten the amount of time allotted for each individual to speak. In addition, a total cap on the amount of time from the meeting devoted to citizen recognition may also be enforced at the chairman’s discretion.

Citizen recognition is designed for the board to hear public comment only. The board does not respond during this time.

There is no scheduled agenda item on tonight’s meeting concerning the Confederate monument outside the Gaston County Courthouse.
