GASTON COUNTY: Board of Commissioners to Vote on Confederate Monument

Gaston County issued the following announcement on July 31.

The Gaston County Board of Commissioners (BOC) has scheduled a SPECIAL MEETING for the purpose of VOTING on the Confederate monument located at the Gaston County Courthouse. The Special Meeting will be held on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 7:45 pm in The Harley B. Gaston, Jr. Public Forum, Courthouse, 325 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Gastonia.

The Meeting will be open to the public. Those wishing to attend will undergo temperature screenings and a health questionnaire. Capacity in the forum and in overflow rooms will be limited to allow for social distancing and attendees will be asked to wear face coverings.

Public comment will be received and there will not be a time limit on the Citizen Recognition portion of the meeting. However, comments will be limited to two (2) minutes per person.

The meeting will be livestreamed on the County’s website, www.gastongov.com and broadcast live on the County’s government channel – available to Spectrum and AT&T U-Verse subscribers.
