Rep. Kelly Hastings (R-Cleveland) did not have an opponent in the Republican primary for state General Assembly.
And he does not have a Democratic opponent in the general election, either.
But that did not stop Hastings from picking up and endorsement.
The Republican incumbent posted to his Facebook page on Aug. 29 that he picked up an endorsement from the North Carolina Trooper Association.
Hastings has already served five terms in the state General Assembly.
"Thankful to be endorsed by the men and women of the North Carolina Troopers Association," Hastings said in his post. "I support the honorable men and women of law enforcement, including the North Carolina Highway Patrol."
Hastings represents District 110, which is the Cleveland and Gaston area.
Hastings served in the U.S. Marine Corps and later became a Realtor, which he is now.
According to Ballotpedia, Hastings served as chair of the appropriations on the capital committee and on the education committee.
