Rep. Jason Saine (R-Lincoln) recently posted on Facebook about the COVID-19 relief efforts in North Carolina.
As soon as the pandemic approached, North Carolina put together a bipartisan Select Committee on COVID-19 who "met remotely to identify immediate and long-term legislative responses to the developing crisis," Saine said in his Sept. 29 Facebook post. "This put North Carolina ahead of the game and on a path to success. I personally co-chaired the Economic Support Working Group."
In addition, a COVID-19 Recovery Act provided tax relief and allowed a more streamlined process for unemployment access, he said on Facebook. This also allowed healthcare to be more flexible and made policy reform in education and government operations.
A Pandemic Response Act was put into place, which "Provides nearly $1.6 billion in COVID-19 relief for small businesses, medical providers, education communities, and broadband connectivity. The bill also addresses both immediate needs, like purchasing personal protective equipment and expanding digital infrastructure needs, and long-term research and development to fight the virus," Saine said in his Facebook post.
