City of Cherryville issued the following announcement on Aug. 21.
The crews were able to reroute the water line but not able to set the new manhole. We wanted to inform you that we will be extending the detour through next week 8/23- 8/27) to complete the work in HWY 274. (Mountain and Main) Hopefully the work will be completed by Wednesday of next week at which time we will open the road back to truck traffic. The only traffic allowed to pass now is local vehicle traffic.
