City of Cherryville issued the following announcement on Mar. 3.
Now is the time to have a spring clean out! Daughters of the American Revolution, Tryon Resolves Chapter, Cherryville will collect household items, jewelry, books, gently used clothing and miscellaneous items to benefit Crossnore Communities for Children Blair Fraley Sales Store. Blair Fraley was a young girl from Cherryville that died tragically in a bicycle accident. Items should be in good condition, no cracks or chips. Clothing should be clean with no holes or tears. Cherryville Fire Department will be the collection center to bring donations. We will collect items March 14-March 23.
From the Crossnore website: Crossnore Communities for Children is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 child welfare organization supporting children and families in crisis from North Carolina. They offer a continuum of services for children at risk of entering the child welfare system, already part of the system, or aging out. Crossnore provides homes for children in foster care (both in community homes and on residential campuses).
Additional services include outpatient and school-based therapy services, and transitional living services for older youth. They offer on-site medical care and trauma-informed clinical services. A wide variety of extra-curricular and enrichment activities makes Crossnore a unique place for children to live, learn and prosper. Their children come from all over North Carolina and range in age from 1-21. They have a special focus on keeping sibling groups together.
