CITY OF BELMONT: Looking For Feedback About Short Term Rentals

Feedbackword

City of Belmont issued the following announcement on June 14.

In the last few years, communities across the nation have seen significant growth in the rental of a portion or all of private residences for short term stays. This use is referred to as "short-term rentals," which is a form of lodging and often defined differently by the local community.

Typically, they are defined as a furnished living space available for overnight lodging accommodations that is provided to renters for stays less than a month (30 days). A portion of or the entire dwelling unit can be used for lodging, including part or all of an accessory structure.  Property owners often use online platforms such as AirBnB, VRBO, or Homestay to manage the rental operations.

City council has asked city staff to research this topic and report back to it. Belmont is looking for your feedback regarding short-term rentals in the city. As with all land uses, there are positives and negatives. Let us know your thoughts on this issue by answering the questions in the link.
