City of Mount Holly issued the following announcement on Feb. 1.

The City of Mount Holly is seeking to have the North Mount Holly Loop, a planned, future roadway, removed from the Gaston-Cleveland-Lincoln Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (GCLMPO) Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP).

This loop road, located near the intersection of Sandy Ford Road and Hwy 273, has no design or funding attached to it. It is the belief of Planning staff, through consultation with others, that this road would have negative impacts to traffic in the future, given future planned improvements to the intersections in this area.

Following the GCLMPO’s guidelines, the City is required to hold a month-long public comment period. This comment period will run from January 27th to February 26th. Any comments can be provided to Paul Lowe, with the City’s Planning Department, via email at paul.lowe@mtholly.us or by mail at 400 East Central Ave Mount Holly, NC 28120.

The Planning Department will also hold an in-person, drop-in, public input meeting, about the proposed change to remove the North Mount Holly Loop from the CTP, on Monday, February 27, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 PM in the first floor Training Room, located in the Mount Holly Municipal Complex, 400 East Central Ave., Mount Holly. Any comments received will be forwarded to the GCLMPO and the NCDOT.

Questions can be directed to Paul Lowe, Assistant Planning Director, 704-951-3014.
