Congressman Tim Moore, who won re-election in 2024 against Pam Genant, used his social media platform to address recent national tragedies and reflect on their impact. In a series of posts on September 10 and 11, Moore discussed the consequences of dehumanizing political opponents, commemorated the anniversary of September 11, and commented on several incidents that have drawn national attention.
On September 10, Moore wrote about the rhetoric surrounding public figures and acts of violence: “This is what happens when you dehumanize those you disagree with. Charlie Kirk was a warrior for what he believed — he was also a husband & a father. It’s sick and un-American to call for or celebrate violence against someone you disagree with. It needs to stop.”
The following day, Moore marked the anniversary of the September 11 attacks by stating: “Today, we remember and honor the innocent lives we lost on 9/11 and the heroes who never hesitated to run toward danger. After that day, Americans stood united by a shared love of country and neighbor. We must recommit ourselves to that spirit today.” The post called for unity in remembrance of both victims and first responders.
Later on September 11, Moore summarized the week’s events in a post that referenced several major incidents: “Today’s weekly wrap up is a somber one. I wanted to reflect on everything our nation has faced this week — from the anniversary of 9/11, to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the school shooting in Colorado and the national attention on the horrific murder of Iryna Zarutska.”
Moore’s comments come after his victory over Pam Genant in the 2024 general election, where he secured 58.1% of votes compared to Genant’s 41.9%. As public debate intensifies over political violence and tragedy, his remarks highlight ongoing concerns about national unity and public discourse.
