Congressman Tim Moore of North Carolina’s 14th District has urged the U.S. Postal Service to reopen the Chimney Rock Village Post Office, which has remained closed since Hurricane Helene struck the area. In a letter sent this week, Moore pointed out that although repairs to the facility have been completed and a USPS assessment in October 2025 found it suitable for operation, services have not yet resumed.
“Reopening the Chimney Rock Village Post Office would provide much-needed stability and represent meaningful progress in the community’s recovery. I strongly urge the Postal Service to act promptly to restore operations and ensure residents have access to the essential services they rely on,” Congressman Moore wrote in his letter.
Residents and small businesses in Chimney Rock Village have faced ongoing challenges due to the post office closure, including having to travel outside their community for mail services such as prescription deliveries and bill payments.
Moore was re-elected in 2024 after defeating Pam Genant in the general election, receiving 58.1% of votes compared to Genant’s 41.9%.
