The two Iranians captured on the American border have been suspect to “potentially” cause a significant threat to the Untied States National Security, sources from U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.
According to Fox News, the identities of these two Iranians appeared on the Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB). This comes as another Iranian man was taken into custody in Eagle Pass, Texas, becoming the fourth person captured in the country since Oct. 1st. “In fiscal year 2023, which began at the start of last October, there were 151 total hits on the TSDB through the period ending on Aug. 31,” reports Fox News.
The U.S. border and national security have been on high alert due to the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. The Daily Mail reports that within the last month, four Iranian individuals have been caught attempting to cross the southern border, with most of them arriving shortly after the Hamas attack on Israel. Any Iranian passing through the border is classified as ‘special interest aliens,’ posing a threat to National Security.
President Biden is planning to seek more than $8 billion from Congress for the Department of Homeland Security, Axios reports. This funding will play a crucial role in addressing immigration and border security. The emergency fund is expected to total around $100 billion, with 60% allocated to Ukraine and an additional 10% to Israel. The immigration crisis and border security have become the top priorities for the Biden administration.
