Early voting began Oct. 13 in Gaston County, with the county elections director saying he expected a good turnout.

However, Gaston County Director of Elections Adam Ragan also said that the number of people voting early in-person might not reach 2016 levels because of greater access to mail-in voting.

"It's tough to say," Ragan said, the Gaston Gazette reported on Oct. 13. "We've had a ton of mailout ballots. I don't think it's going to be as busy four years ago, but it will probably be close."

Early voting in Gaston County continues until Saturday, Oct. 31. Doors are open from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Mondays to Fridays. On Saturdays, polls are accessible from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Sundays from 1-5 p.m.
