Belmont Abbey College has introduced the Abbey Advantage Scholarship Program aimed at supporting high-achieving high school seniors from North Carolina. The scholarship seeks to provide financial aid and academic opportunities for students who aspire to attend college, promoting their academic, personal, and spiritual development.
The college plans to use state and federal grants initially, followed by an institutional merit award covering the full tuition cost of $21,500 for the 2025-2026 academic year. Dr. Jesse Dorman, Vice Provost of Enrollment at Belmont Abbey College, stated: “We are excited to offer this scholarship as a way to support the talented young people in our community.” He emphasized the institution's commitment to making higher education accessible while fostering values of faith, service, and leadership.
The scholarship is available for first-time, full-time non-athletes pursuing traditional majors. Eligible students must complete the FAFSA and NC Residency Determination Form for the NC Need Based Grant and receive full Pell Grant and NC Need Based Aid amounts. Candidates should have a minimum 2.8 GPA and reside in Gaston, Lincoln, Cleveland, or Mecklenburg counties.
Dr. Joseph Wysocki, Provost at Belmont Abbey College, highlighted the importance of supporting local students: “We know that God has a specific calling for these students’ lives... we are committed to making a college education attainable.” He mentioned that alongside financial aid like the Abbey Advantage program, guidance from faculty and mentorship from the community would be provided.
