Belmont Abbey in North Carolina marked a significant occasion with the Solemn Profession of Vows by Brother Chrysostom Sica, an alumnus of Belmont Abbey College. The event was held at the Mary Help of Christians Basilica and witnessed by his family, friends, students, and college community members.

Abbot Placid delivered a homily during the ceremony, underscoring the monastic profession as a special calling that involves embracing Christ's cross. He quoted Jesus from the Gospel of John: “Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be” (John 12:26). Abbot Placid commended Brother Chrysostom for his faithful response to God's call after four years of discernment with the monks.

Brother Chrysostom then professed vows of stability, fidelity to monastic life, and obedience according to the Rule of St. Benedict. The monastic community welcomed him as a vowed member by exchanging signs of peace.

Having graduated from Belmont Abbey College in 2024 with a Philosophy degree, Brother Chrysostom credits his academic success to mentorship from dedicated faculty. He is currently pursuing Theology studies at St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology in Indiana and is preparing for priesthood.

The occasion marks both a personal milestone for Brother Chrysostom and a significant moment for Belmont Abbey community. The college extends its prayers and support as he embarks on this new chapter as a fully professed monk.
